Sarah Christine Reyes Bona of the Philippines was crowned as the first ever Miss Nature Intercontinental in Szczecin, Poland Saturday night (Sunday morning, PH time).
First runner up was Miss Slovakia Júlia Kokoruďová, while second runner up was Miglena Nikolova of Bulgaria.
The remaining finalists were from the USA, Poland and Belarus. A total of 15 contestants from several countries participated in the pageant.
Sarah, 26, is from Iriga City, Camarines Sur. She’s a certified caregiver, licensed midwife, registered nurse and a businesswoman.
Sarah was a Binibining Pilipinas 2016 candidate last year and represented the Philippines recently in Miss ASEAN Friendship 2017 where she placed in the top 5. She was also crowned as Santiata Ti Ilocos-Tourism 2017, where she represented the town of Alilem.
According to its website, Miss Nature Intercontinental is an international beauty contest combined with projects related to nature conservation, environmental education, information on global industry development and its environmental impact, and promoting healthy lifestyles for both children and adults. The main goal of the project is to promote healthy living, ecology and ecological awareness.
It is organized by Malgorzata Rozniecka who was Miss International in 2001. Rozniecka has visited the Philippines in 2009 when she was invited as a judge at the Mutya ng Pilipinas finals in Baler, Aurora that year.
Meanwhile, the second edition of Mr. & Miss Tanglawan 2017 culminated last September 9 at the Activity Center of Starmall in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Huge crowd trooped to the venue to support their respective candidates. Panel of judges include KF top honcho Rodgil Flores, Philippine representative to the Face of Beauty International Samantha Irish Ricalde, Mrs. International World 2017 Risa Caldoza, bloggers Ferdinand Abejon and Noli Berioso, Miss Philippines Earth - Fire 2014 Carla Valderama, among others. Present during the coronation night were the Honorable Mayor of San Jose del Monte Arturo B. Robes and his wife Congresswoman Florida Robes. The event was hosted by former Mutya Ng Pilipinas Kristine Caballero Aplal with John Nite as her co-host.
The candidates competed in the swimwear and formal/long gown to determine who will be included in the semi-finals. After the dreaded question and answer portion and the over-all impression of the panel of judges, 21 year-old John Dinawanao and 17 year old Leandra Batingan were crowned Mr. and Miss Tanglawan 2017. They also took home most of the special awards given by the sponsors. Leandra will also be competing in India for the Teen Model International pageant as part of her prize. Gerald Rambaon and Guia Kelly Lorda were adjudged first runners-up while Marco Fernando and Kristine Trangia were awarded second runners-up.
The three-hour show was directed by Gareth Blanco with Megastar Productions headed by Ovette Ricalde in charge of the over-all productions.
