If they say ‘you are what you eat’, then what could be more fun
than to use this as a guide to analyse a stranger, a date, or even yourself?
Interestingly, there have been several studies linking taste and flavour preferences to one’s personality. Since I am a great fan of trivia, I’d like to share with you this week a compilation of what I have read. I had a great fun testing it myself; I also realized how people are mistaken about me, that is, when later on people would disclose how surprised they were that I went for food choices other than what they thought I would be delighted to have.
In the book “What Flavour Is Your Personality?”, Dr. Alan Hirsch, a neurologist, presented his views on this matter. Using ice cream flavours as a parameter, he said one’s choice tells something about the person’s personality.
You must be competitive, accomplished, competent and ambitious if you prefer chocolate chip. This also describes you as generous and the life of the party. Behold, you are compatible with those people who prefer butter pecan or double chocolate chunk.
If you do not like dramatic or flirtatious people, a coffee ice cream choice should give you a hint (err, I love coffee, both hot and cold; but never in ice creams and in candies!). But to be fair with coffee ice cream lovers, these people are said to give their best in the things that they do. If you love strawberry ice cream (which I prefer next to vanilla), then you would have no problem with coffee ice cream people.
Those who prefer butter pecan ice cream are said to be sensitive to the feelings of others. They are noted to be devoted, introverted, conscientious, and budget conscious, and they mix well with mint choco chip ice cream fanatics.
If your guy (or your female date) chooses mint choco chip flavour for his ice cream, you can bet he is close to family and is honest. He plans for the future. Only, he can only be compatible with another mint choco chip lover, so there, start liking this flavour!
Want to hang out with goal-oriented and outgoing person? See if he chooses rocky road. Give it a go especially if you are a very nurturing person for his type likes to be pampered. He shares his appreciation for finer things in life with another rocky road ice cream aficionado.
My only two choices….first the vanilla ice cream. This choice describes enthusiasts who rely on intuition over logic (not so good news, huh?), are emotionally expressive (I wish!!), aims high and likes to stay busy and accomplish things. They prefer secure romantic relationship (who doesn’t, duh!) and are compatible with rocky road ice cream peeps.
And last, my strawberry ice cream! If you are a fellow lover of this flavour, then you don’t mind working behind the scenes, you are loyal, and supportive. No violent reaction there from me, ehem! In fact, I thought I like these two flavours for their simplicity and neat taste. I didn’t know they reveal something about me.
Craving for more?
Let’s say your date or your crush does not like ordering ice cream, you can still check his personality by his food cravings.
Further on Dr. Hirsch’s book, he said that a guy who likes salty food is the type who goes with the flow; sweets denotes a guy who prefer the wild side, usually likes to stand out and feel special; one who is great at parties and who enjoys team work usually likes dark chocolates; exact opposite of one who prefers milk chocolates for he is surely quiet and has an introspective personality; spicy food describes a person who is a perfectionist and gives attention to details. He loves things to be orderly and hates wasting time.
The loner and creative type? He must be a combination of sweet and salty flavour.
I bet you would be more observant on your next date!
